Hedonism And "Stuff"

As I read this American Thinker article by Walt Johanson illustrating the dramatic societal contrast between the past two World War years and the possibility of 2020 leading us into another possible civil war, I noticed two key words, "hedonism" and "stuff."

Because of the above two key words, the following is a quote from the above article: "After 75 years of increasing material plenty and comfort, many Americans have become risk-averse to the extreme." In other words, with all of our accumulated "stuff" (see here and here), we now live in a "comfort zone" society (see here and here) where only boredom exists (see here and here).

Because of a lax work ethic and a "free stuff" mindset, quote: "School kids have their cars, but few have worked after school for them; also, they don't work their off posteriors in school, once the parental criterion for permission to buy the car in the first place."

Because of our nation's affluence over the past three generations, societal boredom now exists. And what does boredom bring? Quote: "All of that unearned plenty contributes to complacency.  And boredom.  It results in a life without principle, but that can no more be sustained than a vacuum in nature."

What's the solution to complacency brought about by having too much "stuff"? Read the third paragraph of this article for the biblical answer along with related scriptures. Also note this article.
