Why Can't We?

As I looked at the morning news regarding the continuing disarray caused by the government shutdown (see AT article), my question is, "Why can't folks just agree to disagree, bury any selfish motives leading to selfish ends, cease endless schoolyard bickering, and move forward for the good of our society and nation?" (and yes, this writer wholeheartedly supports legal immigration).

Why can't we put all our differences aside and just lovingly and selflessly learn to get along with one another like the crow and the kitten (who are natural enemies) in this amazing YouTube video?

Then I realized that we could do all of the above "if" we were willing to "deny self" (see here and here), totally relying on the good Lord to take care of us (see here), and then willingly help others in need along life's way (see here and here).

The question remains, "Why Can't We?"

This writer believes we all know the answer to the above question.
