"Don't Forget To Read!"

While taking my morning walk, I noticed an elementary school marquee sign not far from where I reside, with the above title. Since school is now officially out for the summer, in order to facilitate and motivate students to read, not only does the El Paso School District promote the RIF (Reading Is Fundamental) reading program, where prizes are given to students who read and test at grade level (and above grade level) books, the district also promotes the El Paso public library summer programs for young and old alike, which includes a summer reading club.

The promotion of reading skills among young people is designed so they and their parents/grandparents won't end up with these three societal problems herehere and here.

Here are 15 US literacy rate and illiteracy statistics, that will give my readers an idea of just how deleterious the illiteracy rate is here in the once greatest nation on earth (see article).

From time to time, we need to be reminded that (1) "Leaders are readers" --- "Invest in your mind" (see here); that (2) "A mind is a dangerous thing to waste"; and that (3) Changing our reading habits can transform our health (see here).

And if we don't already, we need to know how to enjoy reading the greatest of all books, i.e., the Bible (see here, here, and here). Here are seven guidelines for profitable Bible study.

Beloved, have an enjoyable and profitable summer and "Don't forget to read!"
