The wise man Solomon was indeed correct when he stated in Ecclesiastes 1:9 (see commentary); cf Ecclesiastes 3:15 NLT: "History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new." Or as the New King James version states: "There is nothing new under the sun."
Question: Doesn't mankind ever learn anything from history? (Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 10:1-12). Obviously not, for the same grievous mistakes are being made over and over again ending with the same results. Folks, this is sheer insanity.
Mankind has not changed one iota since Adam and Eve in the Garden. He's still the same rebellious and disobedient being he's always been (Romans 3:9-10,23 NKJV), thinking that the world revolves around him .... it doesn't (see here).
Beloved, when mankind gets right (with God), our world will be right (see here). Only then can we truly sing along with the heavenly host, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men" (Luke 2:13-14 KJV; cf. Isaiah 57:19; Romans 5:1; Ephesians 2:17; Colossians 1:20).
Only then can we truly experience a "Happy New Year" in 2018.
