A Little History, Insight, And Being Thankful

As I read the following two American Thinker articles (1) here and (2) here this Thanksgiving morning, this writer realizes that we who live in the greatest nation on earth, have much to be thankful for (see here).

In above article (1) regarding the Puritans and the founding of America, author Trevor Thomas provides us some history and insight into the world of the Puritans, when he writes:

"The Puritans were not the sin-obsessed, witch-hunting, killjoys in tall black hats that many modern pseudo-historians (especially those in Hollywood) have made them out to be. They were determined to build a free society around a Christianity that worked."

As Christians and a free people, we need to ask ourselves, (1) "What is Christianity worth?" and (2) If Christianity were all up to us, what would Christianity look like?

In article (2) regarding the Millennial generation wanting to get rid of Thanksgiving, author Janice Shaw Crouse writes:

"But we must not let the primary reason for Thanksgiving get lost in the overeating and the family/friend fun and togetherness.  In its origins, Thanksgiving was, first and foremost, a day set aside to thank God for allowing us another year of life.  It is a day for us to humbly acknowledge that God is the source of our blessings and of comfort in our sorrows.  He is the Guide and Companion who walks with us through our difficulties as well as the one whose wisdom ultimately lights and directs us on right paths."

Beloved, as Ms. Crouse above states, let us this Thanksgiving Day (and every day), "humbly acknowledge that God is the source of our blessings and of comfort in our sorrows ..... the Guide and Companion who walks with us through our difficulties as well as the One whose wisdom ultimately lights and directs us on right paths" in Jesus' name, Amen and Amen!
