As I looked at this short YouTube video of George W. Bush paying tribute to his father, the late President George H.W. Bush, President Bush said that his father taught him and his siblings the following:- How to grow with humor, dignity and kindness.
- How to live every day to the fullest.
- Never be too busy to share our lives with those around us.
- Love the outdoors and love examining the majesty of God's creation.
- Be optimistic, believing that anything is possible.
- Be a patriot of the country in which you live.
- Be kind and neighborly to folks around you.
- Be empathetic .... value character over pedigree .... look for the good in each person.
- Public service is noble and necessary .... that one can serve with integrity, and hold true to the important values, like faith and family.
- Give back to the community and country in which one lives.
- Serving others enriches the giver's soul.
- In victory, share the credit .... in loss, shoulder the blame.
- Failure is a part of living a full life, but never be defined by failure.
- Setbacks can strengthen us.
- Pray for others as well as ourselves, our faith being sustained by Almighty God.
- Love to laugh, especially at ourselves.
- Be a true and loyal friend, nurturing and honoring friendships with a generous and giving soul.
- Be an encourager to others.
- Be a mentor and father figure to those who have no father.
- Be a good listener and consoler. And above all, be a friend.
- Be a great husband by adoring and being totally committed to your wife, sharing life together.
- Leave our children with the sense of being a loyal friend, a loving parent ... a citizen who leaves his home his neighborhood and his town, better than he found it.
