"People Can't Quite Get A Sense Of Reality"

Richard Edelman, the head of the communications marketing firm Edelman, makes the above statement in this article from "The Atlantic" publication. From the article, Mr. Edelman states the root causes for the lack of trust among the American people:

The root cause of this fall,” he added—just days after polling revealed that Americans’ definition of “fake news” depends as much on their politics as the accuracy of the news, and a Republican senator condemned the American president’s Stalinesque attacks on the press and “evidence-based truth,” and a leading think tank warned that America was suffering from “truth decay” as a result of political polarization and social media—is a “lack of objective facts and rational discourse.

People can't get a sense of reality, when they loose their ability to think and reason properly (Proverbs 14:15 ESV - see article). "Evidence-based truth" can only come from objective facts (see here). The ability to trust other people comes from people standing by their word - letting their "yes mean yes" and their "no mean no" (Matthew 5:37). "Fake news" has come about when people no longer believe in absolute truth (John 17:17; John 8:32 - see here and here). The only Book filled with absolute truth (see here and here) states that Satan is the "father of lies" (John 8:44 ESV - see article) and because of that fact, is the "deceiver of the whole world" (Revelation 12:9 ESV).

Beloved, the solution to our society returning to a sense of reality, and regaining a sense of trust (also see here), is getting back to the God of the Bible; the One in whom we can completely and unreservedly place our trust (Psalm 37:1-5; Proverbs 3:5-6). Folks must be willing to change the way they think (2 Corinthians 10:1-6) and act (Ephesians 4; Colossians 3-4), aligning their thinking with God’s thinking (Isaiah 1:18), having the same mindset as our loving Savior (Romans 12:2; 1 Corinthians 1:10; Philippians 2:1-2; Colossians 1:9-11; Colossians 3:8-10).
